About us

About our volunteers

Volunteers have played an indispensable role with Energy Probe, doing everything from stuffing envelopes and acting as information officers to producing fact sheets and conducting independent research. Some volunteers ran entire projects. Volunteers have been full-time and part-time, often working for us over a period of many years.

Volunteer have status with us. Although unpaid, they are treated as staff with many of the same privileges as staff. For example, volunteers obtain our books at staff discounts and are welcome to attend staff and board meetings if they live in the Toronto area. Volunteers will also be first to be considered for any paid positions. Both of Energy Probe's executive directors over the years, Tom Adams and Lawrence Solomon, started off as volunteers.

Volunteer positions will suit self-starters and those able to work with a minimum of supervision in a business-like, office environment (if they're working out of our Toronto offices).

If you wish to be considered for a volunteer position, please submit a CV and covering letter to LarrySolomon@nextcity.com, explaining the type of work you're interested in doing. You may apply for one of the positions we've posted, or suggest a new one. The interview may be conducted by phone or by e-mail for volunteers outside Toronto.
